DUSHANBE, August 3, 2016, Asia-Plus - An attempt of sale of nearly one kilogram of mercury has been prevented in the southern Khatlon province, according to the Customs Service press center.
A resident of Qurghon Teppa City trying to sell 954 grams of mercury was detained on August 2. According to him, he has purchased the mercury from a resident of the Balkhi district and was going to sell it for 15,000 U.S. dollars.
The Khatlon regional prosecutor’s office has instituted criminal proceedings and an investigation is under way, the press center said.
