A 48-year-old resident of the northern city of Istaravshan, Ilhom Qurbonov, has got a lengthy jail term for the brutal killing of his wife.
The Sughd regional court has sentenced Ilhom Qurbonov to twenty year in prison. He will serve his term in a high-security penal colony.
Judge Anvar Abdughaffori, who presided over the trial, said the tragedy took place in the evening of December 27, 2019.
Qurbonov, who has two previous convictions, reportedly inflicted 13 stab wounds on his wife Gulru Mulloyeva in front of their underage daughter following another family quarrel. The woman died in a hospital.
