A 36-year-old resident of Danghara district, Amriddin Naqshov, who is the nephew of president’s wife Azizmo Asadulloyeva, is charged with hooliganism (Article 237 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code).  He voluntarily surrendered to Danghara police department on May 27, according to the Interior Ministry press center.

“Naqshov has been taken into custody in the framework of the initiated criminal case; a preliminary investigation is under way,” the Interior Ministry press center says.  

Naqshov together with his people reported started a massive brawl in one of the restaurants of Danghara on May 16.  Seven his people were detained while Amriddin Naqshov himself was hiding from police.  

According to Radio Liberty’s Tajik Service, known locally as Radio Ozodi, they attacked employees of Manu Farm (Manu Pharm) Company, including e company top manager Sayod Ghiyosov.  Manu Farm is contracting with Faroz Company and engaged in collecting ferula.   

The Interior Ministry press center says the cause of the brawl is unknown.

Meanwhile, Radio Ozodi says that according to one of witnesses of the brawl, Amriddin Naqshov wanted people close to him to receive part of the lands, where ferula grows.  

After the incident, several people were hospitalized with different injuries, including stab wounds.  Radio Ozodi says about ten people were hospitalized, four of them sustained stab wounds.   

Amriddin Naqshov’s father, Faiziddin Naqshov, had been the head of Department IV at Amonatbonk’s Branch in Dushanbe’s Sino District.  He died in 2018.  

According to Radio Ozodi, Amriddin Naqshov had previously worked at Orienbonk headed by his uncle Hasan Asadullozoda.  Amriddin Naqshov now heads to gold mining company Naqsh, which reportedly owns lands in Shugnov Jamoat of Khovaling District in Khatlon Province.
