DUSHANBE, March 10, 2011, Asia-Plus – On Wednesday March 9, Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan held a dinner for Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and members of his delegation at the Governor House in Karachi.
The dinner was also attended by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Ms. Shahla Raza respectively, provincial ministers, diplomats, businessmen and others. On the occasion, the Tajik President met with the guests.
According to the official website of the Sindh Governor House, President Rahmon spoke of the close friendly ties between Tajikistan and Pakistan. He said that those relations would grow further with the passage of time. The Tajik President said that there was an immense scope of collaboration between the two countries in various fields. He said that Pakistan''s geo-strategic location can provide a linkage between Europe and Central Asia.
President Emomali Rahmon stated that Tajikistan has currently an Honorary Consul General in Karachi and that a Consul General will be appointed in this metropolis.
Earlier, there was a one-to-one meeting between the Tajik President and Sindh Governor. They discussed matters of mutual interest. The Governor apprised the distinguished guest of the investment opportunities in the province, especially in Karachi, which is the commercial and economic hub of Pakistan. The Tajik President spoke of close friendly ties between Tajikistan and Pakistan and said there was a potential of enhancing them further.
