DUSHANBE, April 1, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Term of nomination of candidates for parliamentary by-election (special election) in Dushanbe’s constituency # 4 (Sino district) ended on March 31, Muhibullo Dadajonov, an official with the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda (CCER), told Asia-Plus today.
According to him, five candidates have been nominated for running in the upcoming by-election. “The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has nominated Amirqul Azimov, the Islamic Revival Party (IRP) has nominated Saidibrohim Nazar and the Agrarian Party (APT) has nominated Muzaffar Mirzoyev,” said Dadajonov, “Besides, there are two self-propelled candidates – Tolibshoh Saidzoda, editor-in-chief of the Dushanbe weekly Millat (Nation), and Safarbek Mannonov, deputy director of the National Medical Center.”
The by-election will be held on May 15 following appointment of Shermuhammad Shohiyon who formerly represented Dushanbe’s constituency # 4 in the Majlisi Namoyandagon as the CCER chairman.
40,500 somoni have been allocated from the national budget for holding the by-election in Dushanbe’s constituency # 4. 48 polling stations will be set up in the constituency that numbers some 70,000 voters.
