DUSHANBE, July 4, 2011, Asia-Plus -- An international two-day roundtable titled “Conflict and Peace Building in Afghanistan: State and Prospects” will open in Dushanbe on July 5.
Organized by the Peace and Accord Committee of Tajikistan, Regional Studies Center of Afghanistan and the PolitKontakt Center for Political Technologies, the meeting is expected to bring together political figures and experts from Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Russia, Germany and Kazakhstan as well as representatives from diplomatic missions active in Tajikistan to consider a number of topical issues related to social, political and economic aspects of the Afghan conflict, Sayfullo Safarov, deputy director of the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of Tajikistan, told Asia-Plus in an interview.
According to him, Ahmad Vali Masoud, the brother Ahmad Shah Masoud, known Afghan commander Abdul Hadi Khalid, Afghan literary man Latif Pedram as well as representatives from Russian and Kazakh Foreign Ministries have been invited to attend the meeting.
The two main themes to be discussed at the meeting are “Peacekeeping and Peace-building in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan: Seeking New Parameters” and “International Factors of the Afghan Conflict,” Safarov noted.
