DUSHANBE, July 27, 2011, Asia-Plus -- On Tuesday July 26, Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi met here with Lord Viscount Waverley, Chairman of the British All Party Parliamentary Group fro British Ambassador to Tajikistan Trevor Moore also attended the meeting that focused on issues related to regional cooperation, the current situation in Afghanistan, state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the United Kingdom, as well as ways of bringing British investors to Tajikistan.
In this context, the sides discussed organization of a visit of a group of British entrepreneurs to Tajikistan in the first half-year of 2012.
In the course of the talks, Zarifi pointed to the necessity of laying a solid legal foundation for creation of favorable conditions for British business, the source said.
Lord Waverley, for his part, noted that the Ditchley Foundation would organize a conference on Central Asia in November this year and expressed opinion that participation of the Tajik side at a high level in the conference would be necessary.
Lord Viscount Waverley is currently in Tajikistan on a working visit and the main purpose of the visit is for him to promote development of economic and trade relations between Tajikistan and the United Kingdom, the MFA information department said. During his stay in Tajikistan, Lord Waverley plans to hold meetings with senior representatives from Tajikistan’s economic bloc ministries and Tajik parliament.
