DUSHANBE, October 6, 2011 Asia-Plus -- A meeting of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda (CCER) that took place today registered new member of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament.
Ashourbek Rasoulov, formerly Deputy Minister of Education, replaced Husein Aliyev in the parliament.
We will recall that by president’s decree of July 21 Husein Aliyev was appointed chairman of the Tojikobod district.
Since Husein Aliyev came to the parliament from the party list, the candidate who followed him on the party list replaces him in the parliament without holding of election.
We will recall that of 63 seats in the Majlisi Namoyandagon, 22 seats come from party lists. The remainder is elected in first-past-the-post races. The People’s Democratic Party now controls some 70 percent of the seats in the Majlisi Namoyandagon.
