DUSHANBE, March 3, 2012, Asia-Plus – On Friday March 2, new Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Tajikistan Abbasali Hasanov presented a copy of his credentials to Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi.

According to the Tajik MFA information department, the two discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral mutually beneficially cooperation between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan.

Tajik minister reportedly underlined the significance of implementation of projects being of mutual interest and noted that there was considerable room for expansion of economic ties between the two counties.

He also drew attention of Azeri diplomat to the necessity of improving legal foundation and efficiently using existing opportunities for increase in volumes of investments and mutual trade.  Zarifi also recommended considering the possibility of expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan in transport and transit sector as well as training of personnel for Tajikistan’s oil-and-gas industry.

For his part, Azeri diplomat noted he would do his best to contribute to expansion of bilateral relations between the two countries.

Abbasali Hasanov was appointed new Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Tajikistan on February 10, replacing Mageram Aliyev.

Abbasali Hasanov is a career diplomat with extensive experience in Iran.  From 1999 to 2009, Abbasali Hasanov served as Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Iran and Azerbaijan’s representative to the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).  From 2009 up to the new appointment he served as Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
