Yesterday Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov met with the visiting Tajik Prime Minister Aqil Aqilov, who is scheduled to take part in the session of the Council of heads of governments of CIS member states in Ashgabad.

As reported by Turkmen news agency TDN, Prime Minister Aqilov thanked Turkmen President for an opportunity to discuss most urgent issues of intergovernmental cooperation and greeted Turkmen leader on behalf of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.

Turkmen leader said Turkmenistan attaches great importance to further expansion and strengthening of cooperation with the Republic of Tajikistan.

Tajik Prime Minister expressed every kind of support to Turkmen leader’s initiatives in such spheres as energy security, ecology, transport development, which are of great importance for the entire world and Central Asia region.

Special attention was given to establishment of mutually beneficial cooperation in energy sector and infrastructure-related projects – construction of gas pipeline and railroad through Afghanistan to Tajikistan which are of great importance for Afghanistan and Tajikistan as well as for the entire region.

At the same time, on Wednesday the Council of heads of governments of CIS member states has approved a series of joint documents.

The session has approved the Concept of liberalization of market of financial services of CIS member states, which will allow develop further development strategy of markets of financial services of CIS member states and liberalization measures and will become supporting mechanism for international cooperation in the field of anti-crisis response, RIA Novosti reported citing the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth as source.

Session participants have also signed an agreement of cooperation for organization of integrated currency market of CIS member states which is aimed to create favorable conditions for equal participation of banks in the currency market of CIS member states.

Additionally, the session signed a protocol on amendments to the agreement on simultaneous operation of energy systems of CIS member states, which is aimed to create legal conditions required for effective operation of energy market of the Commonwealth, energy trade development and improve energy saving procedures in CIS member states.

The session also approved resolution on the operator of interstate program of innovative cooperation of CIS member states for 2020. Skolkovo fund will function as operator.

Session participants signed the agreement of cooperation in industry sector, which specifies for the establishment of a new Council for Industrial Policy of CIS member states to coordinate cooperation in this area. Session participants also signed the agreement on establishment of a Coordinating Council for Plant Quarantine to ensure implementation of phytosanitary measures.

Heads of governments of CIS member states also approved hydrometeorlogy development strategy and approved amendments to the agreement on the activity of CIS structures. Additionally, the Council of heads of governments approved the physical culture and sport development strategy for 2020 and plan of actions for implementation of the international youth cooperation of CIS member states for 2012-2013.

Session participants have also signed the agreement of cooperation in the field of engineer support to armed forces of CIS member states and approved changes and additions to documents which regulate the activity of the common system of registration of citizens of third states and persons arriving to CIS.
