On Tuesday Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon met in Beijing with Premier of the State Council of the People''s Republic of China Wen Jiabao. The same day Tajik President met with heads of a series of Chinese companies operating in Tajikistan, Tajik President’s press service reported.

Meeting with Mr. Jiabao was dedicated to discussion of development of Tajik-Chinese economic and investment cooperation.

Premier of the State Council of China expressed his satisfaction over the results of the meeting between Tajik and Chinese leaders and noted that the Government of China will use its current resources for practical implementation of the achieved agreements.

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon thanked the Government of China for supporting Tajikistan’s development and said that expansion of bilateral cooperation in terms of implementation of huge projects is aimed at development of the entire region.

As reported by the President’s press service, on Tuesday President also met with head of the Board of Directors of the Zhong Xing Telecommunication Equipment Company Limited (ZTE) to discuss cooperation in communication sector. It has been stressed that such cooperation is vital for technical and technological development as well as for implementation of the Concept of e-Government in Tajikistan.

Tajik leaders also met with head of Xenan Jinjian Silversid Mr. Li Jao to discuss cooperation in land management sector.

It has been noted that the company uses 600 hectares in Javan and Rumi regions of Khatlon province to cultivate cotton, vegetables and watermelons. At the same time, the company uses modern low-cost and highly productive agricultural technologies.

The company shares its experience gained from its pilot sites with more than 40 agrarians and dekhkans from Tajikistan.

Tajik leader also met with Director General of the China Road and Bridge Corporation Wen Gann to discuss effective implementation of projects on construction of roads in Tajikistan.

Rahmon highly evaluated the company’s activity – construction and rehabilitation of roads in Tajikistan, including Dushanbe-Khujand-Chanak road and Shakhristan tunnel, Dushanbe-Dangara section of the Dushanbe-Kulob-Khorog-Qulma-Kairakkum road and Chormagzak tunnel.

Tajik leader expressed confidence that the Dushanbe-Tursunzade road will be timely refurbished.
