DUSHANBE, July 2, 2012, Asia-Plus -- On Monday July 2, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon met in Kyiv with his Ukrainian counterpart Viktor Yanukovych, the Tajik president’s press service reports.
The two reportedly discussed a broad range of issues related to bilateral cooperation between their countries.
Rahmon and Yanukovych, in particular, discussed bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Ukraine in sectors like education and culture. Issues related to opening of Ukrainian embassy in Dushanbe and expansion of cooperation between entrepreneurs of the two countries were also a major topic of the meeting.
They also expressed interest in launching joint ventures for production of agricultural and textile machines in Tajikistan, the source said.
Meanwhile, ForUm quoted the Ukrainian president’s office as saying that the two presidents had discussed issues related to trade and economic cooperation between Ukraine and Tajikistan. Rahmon also invited Yanukovych to pay an official visit to Tajikistan, the news agency said.
