DUSHANBE, October 9, 2012, Asia-Plus  -- Deputies of Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament Mr. Olim Salimzoda and Ms. Bibidavlat Afzalshoyeva have participated in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s fall meetings that are concluding in Tirana, Albania today, the Majlisi Namoyandagon press center reports.

130 parliamentary representatives from 46 OSCE countries and Mediterranean Partner States have reportedly participated in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly''s Fall Meetings.

Hosted by the Albanian Parliament, the meetings included sessions on protecting multicultural societies, the financial crisis, and the media''s role in promoting good governance.

Featured speakers included OSCE PA President Riccardo Migliori (Italy), OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier, Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha, Albanian Foreign Minister Edmond Panariti, and Speaker of the Albanian Parliament Jozefina Topalli.

Other key speakers included heads of OSCE Missions in the region and international leaders and experts in the fields of finance, media and tolerance.

The Fall Meetings also included a meeting of the Assembly''s Standing Committee, which took place in the Albanian Parliament.

During their stay in Tirana, Tajik MPs also held a number of meetings with senior representatives of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly to discuss issues related to strengthening of parliamentary ties within the OSCE area, the source added.
