On Tuesday December 3, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali, who was on a two-day working visit in Tashkent on December 3-4.

Uzbek media reports say the two sides discussed issues related to state and prospects of further expansion of cooperation between the capitals of the two countries.

At the beginning of the meeting, Uzbek leader expressed satisfaction with the dynamic development of friendship and good neighborliness between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, UzDaily said.       

It was emphasized that thanks to the political will of the leaders of the two fraternal countries, a qualitative breakthrough was provided in promotion of an all-round cooperation and a level of strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan was achieved.

According to Kun.uz, Mirziyoyev and Emomali discussed practical aspects of expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation between Tashkent and Dushanbe.

A special attention was reportedly paid to issues of establishment of a regular dialogue on exchange of experience in urban management and infrastructure development, implementation of joint cooperation projects and cultural-humanitarian cooperation programs based on the roadmap.

Uzbek leader reportedly expressed satisfaction with dynamic development of friendship and good neighborliness between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. 

Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali, for his part, expressed deep gratitude for the reception and conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes on behalf of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.  

By president’s decree issued on January 12, 2017 Rustam Emomali was appointed Mayor of Dushanbe, replacing Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, who had been mayor of the Tajik capital for 19 years.
