The Government of Tajikistan has decided to double a public finance for the upcoming parliamentary election campaign.

“Compared to the previous parliamentary elections, the public parliamentary election campaign funding has been doubled and each officially registered candidate and political party is entitled to receive, respectively, 5,000 somoni and 50,000 somoni of the public campaign funding,” an official source within the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda (CCER) told Asia-Plus in an interview. 

During the previous parliamentary elections that took place in Tajikistan in early March 2015, each candidate and political party received, respectively, 3,000 somoni and 25,000 somoni of the of public campaign funding.

Recall, the parliamentary elections will take place in Tajikistan on March 2019.   The Majlisi Namoyandagon is the lower house of Tajikistan’s parliament.  It has 63 members, elected for a five-year term in, 22 by proportional representation (party list) and 41 in single-seat constituencies.
