Tajik and Russian Foreign Ministers, Sirojiddin Muriddin and Sergei Lavrov had a phone talk on February 9 that focused on cooperation between the two countries.

The two discussed a number of issues related to bilateral cooperation, including against a backcloth of the 17th session of the Tajik-Russia intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation that took place in Moscow from February 8-9, according to the Tajik MFA information department.

The two reportedly also exchanged views on cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia within the framework of regional and international organizations, including the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).   

The parties confirmed their interest in further expansion of multisided cooperation and strategic partnership between Tajikistan and Russia. 

Taking into consideration Tajikistan’s rotating chairmanship in the CSTO, Lavrov and Muhriddin discussed cooperation between member nations of the Organization and further expansion of multifaceted allied ties within the framework of the CSTO, according to Russian Foreign Ministry’s official website.
