Tajik President Emomali Rahmon today received defense ministers of member nations of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) who arrived in Dushanbe for participation the CSTO defense ministers’ session.
Defense ministers of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan as well as plenipotentiary representative of Armenia to the CSTO participated in a meeting with President Emomali Rahmon, according to the Tajik president’s official website.
Issues related to expansion of political, military and military-and-technical cooperation between the CSTO member nations as well as jointly addressing modern challenges and threats were discussed at the meeting.
The parties also discussed the issue of protection of the southern borders of the Organization.
They also stressed the need to develop a plan of joint actions in the event of emergence of new threats, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the president’s press service said.
