Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin today met here with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who in Tajikistan on an official visit, according to the Tajik MFA information department.    

Speaking at a joint conference after the meeting, Sirojiddin Muhriddin noted that a visit of the Russian President Vladimir Putin to Tajikistan is scheduled for second half of September this year. 

According to him, preparations for this visit have already begun.

“Special attention is given to this issue,” Tajik foreign minister said.  

Russian president will arrive in Dushanbe to participate in a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) that will take place in the Tajik capital from September 16-17.  

Sergei Lavrov, for his part, said that they had discussed joint fights against the new coronavirus. 

The issue of supplying the Russian vaccine Sputnik V free of charge to Tajikistan was discussed at the meeting, Russian foreign minister noted.  

According to him, the presidents of the two countries agreed on this earlier.

The two also discussed issues related to migration cooperation between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation. 

“We positively assess interaction in the field of migration.  Comprehensive negotiations on all aspects of migration issues were carried out in April.  They, of course, will help complete the improvement of the legal foundation in this area as soon as possible,” Lavrov said.  

He stressed that “Dushanbe has promised to take additional measures to explain to Tajik labor migrants working in Russia the need to comply with Russian legislation in this area.”
