Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament), yesterday arrived in Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian president.

“Zokirzoda was officially received at the international airport by high-ranking representatives of the Iranian Parliament,” Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

“During his talks with Iranian MPs at the Tehran airport, Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda said that Tajikistan firmly adheres to the course of expanding cooperation with Iran in various fields,” said Sultonov.  “Zokirzoda expressed confidence that his visit to Iran will play a positive role in the development of relations between the two states.”

The inauguration ceremony of President Ebrahim Raisi will be held on Thursday, July 5, at the Iranian Parliament.

Recall, President Emomali Rahmon cannot attend the inauguration of Iranian president elect Ebrahim Raisi cause of his state visit to Turkmenistan.

On June 20, Emomali Rahmon congratulated the Iranian President-elect Ebrahim Raisi on his victory in the June 18 presidential election.  Referring to the historical and cultural commonalities between the two countries, Rahmon said that his country has always been seeking further friendly relations as well as beneficial collaborations with Iran.  He wished good health and success for the Iranian president-elect and peace, stability, and prosperity for the entire Iranian nation.

Tajikistan is among few countries that have been invited for the inauguration of the new Iran president.
