As part of his working visit to Austria, Tajik chief prosecutor Yusuf Rahmon on August 3 met in Vienna with high-level officials of the law enforcement authorities of this country, including Mr. Christian Munquet, Head of the Directorate for Criminal Law Legislation of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Justice, Mr. Michael Leitner, the Deputy Prosecutor General of Austria and Mr. Ernest Kogler, Head of the Department for Protection of the Constitution and Countering against Terrorism of the Austrian Ministry of the Interior, according to the Tajik MFA information department.
During the meeting, the parties reportedly discussed issues related to expanding cooperation between the law enforcement authorities of Tajikistan and Austria, in particular the bilateral legal assistance in consideration of criminal cases, enhancement of interagency relations, including extradition of wanted criminals, as well as interaction in combating terrorism and extremism, prevention of organized transnational crimes have been discussed.
The parties also exchanged views on the current situation in Afghanistan and its possible impact to the security situation in Central Asian countries and beyond, and other issues of common interest, the Tajik MFA information department said..
