Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin, who is in New York, yesterday at the invitation of Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz took part in the High-level Dialogue on ensuring the security of the people of Afghanistan. The meeting was organized by the Permanent Mission of Austria to the UNinformation department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reporets.

In his speech, Mukhriddin, explaining the position of Tajikistan on the situation in Afghanistan, stressed the need to provide emergency humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan and ensure the rights of women and girls to education, as well as create an inclusive government with the participation of representatives of all ethnic groups, especially Tajiks, who make up 46 percent of the population of this country.


"The Minister drew special attention to the plight of the Panjshir population, where the Taliban are not only engaged in crime, but also torture the civilian population, - noted in the message. - In this regard, he called on international organizations and influential countries to stop this lawlessness as soon as possible by helping to open roads for providing humanitarian aid to the residents of Panjshir and other regions of Afghanistan".


In New York, Sirojiddin Muhriddin also met with the Federal Minister for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of Austria Alexander Schallenberg and discussed with him topical issues of the development of bilateral and multilateral relations between Tajikistan and Austria.

The parties also exchanged views on security issues, the current situation in the region and other issues of mutual interest.
