On Friday October 1, Tajikistan’s Foreign Minister met in New York with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Administrator Achim Steiner in the framework of the General Debates of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly was held, according to the Tajik MFA information department.

The parties reportedly discussed the development of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the UNDP, implementation of joint projects of this UN entity in our country, as well as latest developments in Afghanistan.

Regarding the delivery of humanitarian aid to the population of Afghanistan, Sirojiddin Muhriddin stressed that the international community should provide direct humanitarian aid to the people of Afghanistan, in particular to the residents of the Panjshir province.

On the same day, Sirojiddin Muhriddin met in New York with the UN Under-Secretary General, Head of the UN Counter-Terrorism Office Vladimir Voronkov.

During the meeting, the current issues of global agenda, including counter-terrorism and extremism, as well as the situation in the region, particularly the latest developments in Afghanistan were discussed, according to the Tajik MFA information department.

Moreover, the sides agreed to continue the cooperation within the “Dushanbe Process on Counter-Terrorism and its Financing”.
