Tajik President Emomali Rahmon held a number of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the Fourth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia that took place at the Kyrgyz resort town of Cholpon-Ata, according to the Tajik president’s official website. 

Topical issues of the bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan as well as the regional and international agenda were discussed at Rahmon’s meeting with his Kyrgyz counterpart Sadyr Japarov.

The parties reportedly reached an agreement to intensify the activities of the intergovernmental commission for the comprehensive consideration of issues of bilateral cooperation and the intergovernmental commission for the delimitation and demarcation of the state border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

The heads of the countries noted the importance of mutually beneficial use of water resources of transboundary rivers in the border areas and intensification of cooperation in this direction.

The parties decided to resume the work of the interagency Tajik-Kyrgyz working group to consider issues related to the use of water resources.

Rahmon and Japarov also exchanged views on the work of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea.  

Emomali Rahmon’s meeting with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was reportedly focused on issues related to prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

Rahmon and Mirziyoyev discussed topical issues of bilateral collaboration between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, says the Tajik president’s official website. 

They, in particular, discussed issues related to promotion of joint projects in the field of trade, industry, agriculture, energy, transport and logistics.

The presidents of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan reportedly expressed their readiness to expand fruitful ties in all areas of bilateral cooperation.
