Over the first quarter (Ajanuary-March) of 2025, the bilateral trde between Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran has valued at US$111 million, an increase of 42.9% compared to the same period last year.
This data was shared during a meeting between the Tajik Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Zavqi Zavqizoda, with the Deputy First Vice-President of Iran for International Affairs and Regional Cooperation, Ali Najafi Khoshroudi, which took place in Dushanbe on April 15, Tajikistan’s Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MoEDT) press center reports.
It was reportedly noted that both sides highlighted the effective implementation of the Long-Term Economic and Trade Cooperation Program between the Governments of Tajikistan and Iran for 2022-2030, which has created favorable conditions for expanding mutual trade.
Ali Najafi Khoshroudi reportedly emphasized the development of bilateral cooperation, expressing readiness to use transit corridors, organize and participate in exhibitions, attract foreign direct investments, and develop tourism.
On April 16, Khoshroudi met with the Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan, Daler Juma, who is co-chairman of the Joint Tajikistan-Iran Commission for Trade and Economic, technical, Scientific, and Cultural Cooperation.
It was emphasized during the meeting that Iran plans to host the 17th meeting of the Joint Commission in May this year. for of Tajikistan and Iran on trade-economic, technical, scientific, and cultural cooperation, according to the Ministry's press center.
During the meeting, Ali Najafi Khoshroudi reportedly welcomed the signing of the Khujand Declaration on Eternal Friendship between the Republic of Tajikistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, and the Republic of Uzbekistan, highlighting that the document is of great importance not only for these countries but also for the entire region.
It is worth noting that Ali Najafi Khoshroudi, heading a government delegation, arrived in Dushanbe on Aril 15 for a three-day official visit. As part of this visit, he is also scheduled to hold meetings with the Prime Minister and Ministers of Foreign Affairs, and Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan to discuss prospects of further expansion of cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran.
