On April 15, 2016, Tajik lawmakers endorsed amendments made to the country’s law on holidays.  Under these amendments, November 16 is now marked in Tajikistan as President’s Day.  November 16 was reportedly chosen to be celebrated as President’s Day because the Constitution of Tajikistan was adopted on November 6, 1994 and presidential elections were held in the country on the same day, and President Rahmon President was officially sworn in for the first term on November 16, 1994.
