President Emomli Rahmon has transferred his monthly wage to the account opened for combating the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).  

Besides, President’s Reserve Fund has allocated 12.4 million somoni to make additional payments to medical workers involved in combating COVID-19 during three months, according to the Tajik president’s official website.  

The head of state also ordered the COVID-19 Prevention Commission, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection (MoHSPP) and other relevant bodies to intensify measures to combat the novel coronavirus.     

Recall, the Tajik authorities officially confirmed the first cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country on April 30.   

Speaking at an emergency meeting of the Commission for Prevention Coronavirus Pandemic, Prime Minister Qohir Rasoulzoda noted that ten cases of COVID-19 were in the Sughd province and the other five in Dushanbe.  

According to data from a MoHSPP, 10,937 people were taken under a mandatory two-week quarantine after arriving in Tajikistan from abroad between February 1 and April 30.  It added that more than 2,000 people have been still in quarantine as of April 30 and none of those 8,438 released people had the coronavirus.
