President Emomali Rahmon is beginning his six-day working visit to the northern Sughd province today, a source within the Tajik government told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to him, the main purpose of the visit is for the head of state to get acquainted with the post-covid situation in the province and inaugurate a number of social and economic facilities.

While in Sughd, the head of state will also check preparedness of the province for celebration of the 30th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence that will be celebrated this year on September 9, the source said.  

Emomali Rahmon is also scheduled to meet with regional administrators of Sughd.  

During president’s visit to the province, roads will be closed and the Sughd traffic police department calls on drivers to understand the restrictions, observe them and, if necessary, move along the adjacent roads.
