President Emomali Rahmon, who is also Head of the Government, held a meeting of the Government on June 28.
The Tajik president’s official website say the Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of Tajikistan, Bahodour Sheralizoda, reported on the National Program for Greening of the Republic of Tajikistan for the period up to 2040.
It was reportedly emphasized that this program, developed in order to implement activities in the direction of planting trees and shrubs in the cities and districts of the country, is aimed at reducing greenhouse gases, restoring the ecological state of the atmosphere, maintaining a stable natural balance, adapting to the processes of climate change, etc.
After the discussion of the issue, the program was approved and Emomali Rahmon instructed relevant ministries and agencies and local authorities to take specific measures for its effective implementation. In particular, it was emphasized that the number of nurseries should be increased and their efficiency should be improved.
In the continuation of the meeting, the report of the responsible persons was heard concerning the Work Plan of the Government for the second half of 2024 and the Report on the available lands, their distribution by groups, types and land users of the country as of January 1, 2024.
The meeting participants also discussed a number of bills, including those on amendments to the country’s laws on anticorruption agency and the prevention of domestic violence and submitted them for consideration to the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament).
They reportedly also reviewed issues related to the International Tourism and Entrepreneurship University’s Development Strategy for the period up to 2040 and the establishment of International Universities of Tourism and Entrepreneurship in Khatlon and Sughd province.
