On Friday June 20, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and Mayor of Dushanbe Rustam Emomali visited the modern greenhouse of the trade cooperative Donahoi Umed, located in the Sino district of the capital, according to the Tajik president’s official website.
Year-round vegetables from 1.5 hectares
The greenhouse, built on an area of 1.5 hectares, is reportedly equipped with state-of-the-art equipment imported from abroad. The main goal of the project is to ensure a year-round supply of fresh vegetables to the residents of Dushanbe.
The technology used allows a stable internal temperature to be maintained regardless of the season. Before the current cucumber harvest, tomatoes were cultivated here and have already been delivered to city markets.
Automation and crop protection
Irrigation is carried out using a drip system, providing the plants not only with water but also with essential nutrients. The crop care processes are automated, which significantly boosts productivity. Special protective nets are installed inside the greenhouse to shield crops from overheating and pests.
The greenhouse is currently yielding a rich cucumber harvest. According to representatives of the cooperative, this is due to the selection of crop varieties well adapted to the local climate. The facility employs 10 experienced specialists in vegetable farming.
