KHUJAND, February 8, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Tajik Defense Minister Sherali Khairulloyev and his Kyrgyz counterpart Abibill Kudayberdiyev met today in the Tajik northern city of Qairoqqum, according to Tajik Defense Ministry press service.
The two discussed a broad range of issues related to current military and political situation in the region and factors that could contribute to destabilization of the situation in the region.
Both sides vowed to increase efforts to jointly provide regional security. The ministers also pointed to the necessity of expanding closer cooperation between the defense ministries of the two countries, developing measures and mechanism of efficient response to extraordinary events in the region.
Khairulloyev and Kudayberdiyev also agreed to expand dialogue on interaction between the two nations in the military sphere and outlined prospects of multi-aspect cooperation, the source said.
