Five days long Additional Basic Level training course for BLOs was conducted in Tashkent “Poytaht Business Centre” in the framework of United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Regional Project XAC/K22 “Countering the trafficking of Afghan opiates via the northern route by enhancing the capacity of key border crossings points (BCPs) and through the establishment of Border Liaison Offices (BLOs)”.

With the purpose of enhancing capacity, this training course was conducted for officers of LEAs of both countries as additional course taking into account the frequent rotation among their staff. The trainees officers completed this course will be included in the Advanced Level Training Course for BLOs.

The trainee officers were from the Customs, Border Guards, Drug Control Agency and Ministry of Interior of the Republics of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. The trainees went through theoretical training topics on drugs, concealment methods and search techniques, planning and management of counter narcotic operations, risk assessment and profiling of vehicles, information & criminal intelligence analysis, interview and interrogation, and they stated that this course improved their skills and expressed their satisfaction with the training.

A total of 8 law enforcement officers were trained by Expert trainers from the Turkish International Academy against Drugs and Organized Crime.
