DUSHANBE, October 9, 2009, Asia-Plus -- With the lapse of time, the CIS will lose its significance and collapse, and therefore, some CIS heads of state do not consider it important to attend CIS summits, Hikmatullo Sayfullozoda, a spokesman for the Islamic Revival Party (IRPT), said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
“In recent years, the CIS summits have turned into gatherings for conversations and endless discussions of how to improve the organization, “ said Sayfullozoda, “I think the visit to Turkmenistan and bilateral talks with Turkmen leader are now more important for our president than the CIS summit.”
Besides, the presidents of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are also not attending the summit in Chisinau, he added.
