DUSHANBE, November 26, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Nobody has the right to force people to transfer money to help Roghun’s construction, Shokirjon Hakimov, the first deputy chairman of the Social-Democratic Party (SDPT), said in an interview with Asia-Plus, commenting on a call for public fundraising for construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power plant (HPP).
According to him, after president’s call on the population to purchase shares in Roghun, some Tajik officials of different level have begun making their employees give up certain part of their one-month’s salary to help the construction of the Roghun HPP. “Nobody has the right to force people to transfer money to the Roghun project,” Hakimov said.
On the issue of purchasing shares in Roghun, he noted that it was necessary to lay legal foundation for realization of shares. “To ensure efficient use of funds coming from realization of shares it is necessary to established closed joint-stock company that would be responsible for targeted use of funds,” the SDPT deputy leader stressed.
