KULOB, January 22, 2011, Asia-Plus -- In 2010, 3,841 newborn were registered in the city and the district of Kulob, whish is 62 newborns more than in 2009, according to the Kulob agency for statistics.
“In the meantime, birth rate in the city of Kulob fell last year compared by 2009, while in the district of Kulob, birth rate increased,” said the source, “2,336 newborns were registered in the district of Kulob last year which is 182 newborns more than in 2009, while in the city of Kulob, the number of registered newborns fell by 121 as compared with 2009.”
Infant mortality rate remains high in the area. “In 2010, 86 cases of stillbirth or early neonatal death were registered in the city of Kulob, which is 36 cases more than in 2009,” the source said, noting that no case of stillbirth was reported in the Kulob district.
