KULOB, February 3, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Finnish Red Cross is expected to launch a TB risk reduction program in Vose and Hamadoni districts of Khatlon province, Zayniddin Olimov, head of Tajikistan’s Red Crescent Society (RCS)’ regional office in Kulob, told Asia-Plus Thursday afternoon.
“It is no mere chance that these districts have been selected for the program,” said Olimov, “Vose and Hamadoni districts account for some 40 percent of new cases of tuberculosis detected in the Kulob region of Khatlon.”
“We will work jointly and our Finnish friends are currently making up a competent team through our office for working with the program,” the head of RCS’s office in Kulob said.
According to him, the program includes a wide spectrum of events, ranging from distribution of instructive brochures in Tajik to concrete help to TB patients.
