DUSHANBE, February 8, 2011, Asia-Plus -- The National Youth Resource Center has been set up in Tajikistan under support of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).
Qiyomiddin Miraliyev, head of the social policy department of the Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs, says the center, located at the Committee, is dedicated to create favorable conditions for coordination and development of capacities of youth and youth organizations in the country.
“To raise professionalism of youth that will work with the center, a 12-day training seminar on the management and communication subject has been organized,” said Miraliyev, “The center will collaborate with youth organizations, coordinate their activities on involvement of youth in active and health lifestyle.”
According to him, the center will have a hotline to make available consultations and support to young people. “The center will also coordinate activities of an initiative group of youth and young volunteers,” Miraliyev said, adding that there are some 3,000 young volunteers in the country.
According to the Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs, 150 youth public associations now operate in Tajikistan.
The German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) is a private international enterprise founded in 1975 and owned by the German Federal Government, specializing in, but not limited to, technical cooperation for sustainable development with worldwide operation. GIZ started its work in January 2011. The organization combines the expertise and long experience of the German Development Service (DED) gGmbH, the German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GTZ) GmbH and InWEnt - Capacity Building International, Germany. The GIZ mainly operates on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Further clients are other departments of the government, international donors like the European Union, World Bank or the United Nations, partner countries and the private sector. The cooperation with private enterprises is an emerging field in the domain of sustainable development promotion. The GIZ is set up with International Services (IS) and the Public Private Partnership (PPP) in this area.
