DUSHANBE, November 3, 2011, Asia-Plus -- On Wednesday November 2, Abdurahim Kholiqov, the head of the Committee on Religious Affairs (CRA) under the Government of Tajikistan, met here with Ms. Christine Weil, Head of Southern Caucasus and Central Asia Division of Germany’s Federal Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
Observance of rights of believers in Tajikistan and laws on religion adopted by the country were a major topic of the meeting, the source in the CRA said.
According to him, the sides considered issues related to cooperation of religious organizations with public bodies and NGOs, improvement of professionalism of imams of cathedral mosques.
The CRA head reportedly also acquainted the German MFA official with some provisions of Tajikistan’s parental responsibility law.
Ms. Weil also met with the Islamic Revival Party (IRP) leader Muhiddin Kabiri on November 2. Kabiri noted that relations between the IRP and the authorities have shown an improvement tendency in recent months that is evidence of development of political culture in the country, the source said.
