On April 20 Head of the Tajik Migration Service under the Government of Tajikistan Safialo Devonaev met with the Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) William Lacy Swing.
The sides met in Geneva to discuss cooperation in such spheres as labor migration regulation in Tajikistan and protection of rights of labor migrants and their families, Tajik Migration Service told the AP.
The sides have agreed that IOM will assist Tajikistan to set up retraining centers for labor migrants in premigration period.
IOM Director General said that the organization will send a group of experts to Tajikistan in the nearest time to provide assistance to Tajik Migration Service to improve implementation of the UN Convention on Migrants’ Rights.
The sides have also discussed a series of other projects of mutual interest. IOM top official has expressed his satisfaction over Tajikistan’s achievements in the field of regulation of labor migration process.
The sides have expressed willingness to collaborate in terms of regulation of migration problems in Tajikistan for universal development.
