Olga Gavruk, Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Tajikistan, visited Sughd free economic zone and met with its head Anvar Jakubov.
Sughd officials also took part in the meeting, administration office of the free economic zone reported.
Jakubov told the visitors about the activity of the administration and explained priority directions of industrial and innovation activity, projects aimed at formation of favorable conditions and attractive conditions for investors and simplified business procedures.
He also said that establishment of free economic zones in Tajikistan is aimed at the development of industry, formation of new workplaces, economic development of the region and attraction of foreign investments.
“Top administrative official explained the details of investment projects currently implemented in the free economic zone such as formation of logistics and transport center, formation of alternative energy and energy efficiency center, entities of free economic zone, newly opened enterprises and future plans for this and next year,” the administration has said.
Belarusian Ambassador said that “our countries have a great potential for the development of cooperation in different directions and it is extremely important to undertake efforts for establishment of partner relations with business circles of Belarus and free economic zones.”
Gavruk stressed that Sughd province has favorable conditions and good potential for development of processing sector, it has great potential for organization of cooperation in such directions as dairy products, livestock sector, light textile industry. She also pointed at the opportunity to organize effective cooperation in some directions of alternative energy sources.
Yakubov added that the agreement between Sughd province and Vitebsk District of Belarus, which was signed yesterday, lays another legal basis for organization of mutually beneficial cooperation. He said that priority directions in this type of cooperation include light and textile industry, dairy production, poultry, cultivation of sugar beet and sugar production, cooperation in terms of construction of logistics and transport center, establishment of links between free economic zones, training of engineers.
