DUSHANBE, July 29, 2013, Asia-Plus – Presentation of a TV serial “Umed ba Adolat” (The Hope for Justice) is taking place in Dushanbe today.
The serial that tells the story of a young lawyer, Dilshod Olimov, who assists ordinary people in Tajikistan, has been shot in the framework of the project, Raising Legal Awareness of the Population in Tajikistan, which is being implemented by the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia (EFCA) under financial support of the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe.
Providing free legal assistance, the lawyer is faced with problems of domestic violence, nonpayment of alimonies, corruption, and preventing girls from attending school. The serial is reportedly based on the true events taking place in the country.
The Art-Vision Company has been subcontractor for the serial shooting.
The Raising Legal Awareness of the Population in Tajikistan Project is reportedly designed for June 2012 – September 2013.
Eurasia Foundation first opened a representative office in Dushanbe, Tajikistan in 1996. As part of its drive to establish partner foundations throughout the region, the Foundation set up Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia (EFCA) as an independent organization in 2006. As a part of EFCA, the Tajikistan office works locally to promote youth development, expand independent media and citizen journalism, reduce radicalization, encourage responsive local government, support private enterprise, sponsor economic growth, and engage citizens in civil society. EFCA also runs cross-border programs to boost cooperation between NGOs in Tajikistan and Afghanistan. Because border issues must be solved jointly, EFCA supports a project on border cooperation between Tajikistan and Afghanistan to foster the development of small- and mid-sized business in southern Tajikistan and northern Afghanistan.
