DUSHANBE, July 7, 2014, Asia-Plus -- The Center for Strategic Studies under the President of Tajikistan is conducting a survey to assess living conditions in households across the country, Ms. Farida Muminova, Deputy Director of the Center for Strategic Studies, announced at a news conference in Dushanbe on July 7.
According to her, the Center specialists are trying to determine the exact numbers of low-income, middle and well-to-do sections of the population in the country.
“The Center conducted a survey to study the middle class in Tajikistan last year, but only five targeted groups were surveyed,” Ms. Muminova noted
“Now we plan to study all households across the country,” she added.
We will recall that according to the findings of the survey conducted by specialists from the Center for Strategic Studies last year, 22 percent of those surveyed identified themselves as middle calls.
In Tajikistan, representatives of the educational, health and cultural sectors reportedly identify themselves as middle class.
The middle class is a class of people in the middle of a societal hierarchy. The middle class is the broad group of people in contemporary society who fall socio-economically between the working class and upper class. The common measures of what constitutes middle class vary significantly among cultures.
