DUSHANBE, July 7, 2014, Asia-Plus -- The Day of Tajikistan was held at the Ramadan Pavilion Festival outside the Memorial Mosque at the Poklonnaya Hill in Moscow on July 4.

Tajik Ambassador to Russia Imomuddin Sattorov participated in the iftar (refers to the evening meal when Muslims break their fast at the time of sunset).

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Sattorov noted, “Some 4,000 mosques now function in Tajikistan.  Tajikistan has the Islamic Institute and there are a number of religious associations in our country.

“All religious associations and communities function freely in Tajikistan within the framework of the country’s legislation,” said Tajik ambassador.  “Central Asia’s largest mosque is currently being built in Tajikistan.  … Only compliance with traditional Islam, observance of norms and rules laid for centuries may be a good example, because traditional Islam calls on people to love homeland, be patriots, respect elderly people…”

Ildar-khazrat Alyautdinov, Head of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Moscow, also made speech at the event.  He, in particular, noted that the Ramadan Pavilion was embodiment of people’s idea about union.

The official part of the event was followed by the cultural activities and guests and participants of the festival reportedly had an opportunity to familiarize themselves with culture and traditions of the Tajik people.

This year, the Ramadan Pavilion opened in Moscow for the eleventh time.  It opened on June 30 and runs through the end of the Muslim holy month o Ramadan.
