DUSHANBE, September 10, 2014, Asia-Plus – Radio Asia-Plus (FM 107) has celebrated its 12th anniversary.
Radio Asia-Plus (FM 107) is the first independent radio station in Dushanbe. The radio station went on the air in Dushanbe on September 9, 2002, after waiting for four years for a frequency license. It runs news bulletins in Tajik and Russian alternately on the hour, and plays music from all over the world.
In October 2001, Radio Asia-Plus got a license to broadcast its programs to the whole republic and an Internet broadcast license.
The radio broadcasts 24 hours per day and it now covers Dushanbe and nearby districts and it can also be picked up in Sughd and Khatlon provinces.
Potential audience of Asia-Plus Radio in northern Sughd province numbers some 600,000 people. Radio Asia-Plus has some one million listeners in Dushanbe and districts subordinate to the center and up to 600,000 listeners in Qurghon Teppa, the capital of the Khatlon province and nearby districts, including Sarband, Vakhsh, Rumi, and Bokhtar.
The Internet broadcast license allows Asia-Plus to operate an Internet radio station. Radio Asia-Plus is the first radio station in Tajikistan to broadcast its programs in Internet.
