KHUJAND, October 2, 2014, Asia-Plus -- During his working visit to the Isfara district, Sughd governor Abdurahmon Qodiri has got acquainted with the pace of construction of the road connecting the Tajik northern city of Isfara and Vorukh, Tajikistan’s exclave inside Kyrgyzstan.

The Sughd regional budget has allocated more than 2 million somoni for construction of this road that is expected to be finished this month, an official source at the Sughd regional administration told Asia-Plus in an interview.

We will recall that the construction of Isfara-Vorukh road officially commenced on September 4.  Tajik Deputy Prime Minister Murodali Alimardon, Presidential Advisor on National Security Sherali Khairulloyev, Sughd Governor Abdurahmon Qodiri as well as Kyrgyz Deputy Prime Minister Abdyrakhman Mamataliyev and heads of Kyrgyz border districts attended the ceremony.  This road will bypass the Kyrgyz village of Aksai.

Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan have been locked in a tense border disputed for months around Vorukh, which is part of Tajikistan, but due to past redrawing of borders, it exists as an exclave some 20 kilometers inside Kyrgyzstan.

While in Isfara, Sughd governor has also visited the site for construction of a new settlement in the Mohpari area in order to get acquainted with construction of a water pipeline.

Regional budget has reportedly allocated 3 million somoni for construction a 12-kilometer water pipeline from the Navobod settlement through the Somoniyon mahalla to the Mohpari area.

830 hectares have been allotted to more than 2,000 people for housing in the Mohpari area, the source said.
