DUSHANBE, December 2, 2014, Asia-Plus - Through its project, Supplies to Support Pension Reform in Tajikistan, the European Union yesterday handed over IT equipment to the Agency on Social Insurance and Pensions under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
According to the Delegation of the European Union to Tajikistan, the set provided included 850 laptops, 115 laser printers, 3 servers, 110 UPS, 4 air conditioners, 78 VPN equipment, network switches and connectors. The total cost of hardware equipment amounts to 894.000 Euro (approximately 6,000,000 Tajik somoni), which was supplied by the IT vendor, CANCOM on line GmbH.
The ICT equipment will support the IT modernization of pension system administration in Tajikistan. With the modernized system the pension administration should be able to collect, store and process information for notionally defined individual pension accounts.
The accompanying technical assistance EUR 1.5 million project, Technical Assistance to the Pension Reform in Tajikistan, reforming the normative base and administrative arrangements of the pension system will last until May 2015. This support will be continued as part of a comprehensive EU Human Development Support Program II of 30.5 million Euros over the period 2014-2017.
