DUSHANBE, March 27, 2015, Asia-Plus – The University of Central Asia (UCA) notes that talented Grade 10 students from across Central Asia will have the opportunity this summer to engage in a unique enrichment program hosted by UCA.

The UCA Summer Camp will take place from June 17 to July 7 at Sinegorie Pansionat on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul in Kyrgyzstan.  The beautiful setting will provide the stage for a series of activities aimed at preparing students for university admissions. An international team of trained and experienced teachers and camp counselors will facilitate activities, with a staff to student ratio of one to five.

The camp is reportedly dedicated to upgrading students to attain internationally competitive levels in English and math and ensure they are ready for a world-class university education; academic enrichment is a large part of camp activities. Participants will study English and math, using a curriculum designed by Canadian and American educational experts and adapted to fit the needs of Central Asian students. English will be taught by native English speakers.

They will also gain the information and resources they need to plan and enhance their success with university applications.  This includes special sessions led by experts, where they will learn how to apply to university; choose a program of study based on career interests; and prepare for university entrance requirements.  A careers night will further help them assess their academic interests and talents and career plans.

Participants will have the opportunity to meet university professors from and beyond Central Asia.  After the camp, each participant will be linked by Skype to a mentor in Canada or the United States to receive further guidance on how to prepare for, and secure, a world-class education.

To give participants a chance to practice their language skills, non-academic activities will be conducted in English.  These will include sports, debating, drama, movie and music night and finally, excursions to explore the beauty around Lake Issyk-Kul.

The UCA Summer Camp is a three-week residential academic enrichment camp designed to upgrade math and English skills among Grade 10 students living in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. To gain admission, interested students must sit for a short entrance exam in English comprehension, math and logic.  Entrance exams will be held on March 28, 29 and April 4, 5, 11, 12.
