KHUJAND, April 2, 2015, Asia-Plus -- Sughd Governor Abdurahmon Qodiri held talks with Mr. Chen Weilin, Director in Tebian Electric Apparatus (TBEA), a Chinese manufacturer of power transformers and other electrical equipment, in Khujand on March 31.
According to the Sughd administration press center, the two expressed satisfaction with the current level of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and China.
TBEA is expected to construct heating plant in Khujand, the capital of Sughd province.
The sides reportedly also discussed issues related to use of solar and wind power in the province.
During the meeting, Qodiri invited the Chinese company to invest in construction of a new city in the Sughd province, the source said.
We will recall that Tajik President Emomali Rahmon on March 24 laid the cornerstone of a new modern city in the Somghor area of the Bobojongahfourov district.
According to the Tajik president’s official website, this city for more than 40,000 families or some 250,000 people, named Saihun after a nearby river, will be built on a 14,000-hectare desert land.
The new city will have 19 residential areas, some 50 schools, 40 sports centers, and numerous shopping centers and bazaars, the president’s official website says, noting that a total of 1,000 hectares of the desert around the city will be turned into orchards.
TBEA is one of the largest electrical manufacturing groups in China and the first floated stock company in Chinese A Shore Market in transmission industry of China after merging the former Hengyang Transformer Works (a large-size stated company founded in 1958 and located in Hunan province, China), and well-known for manufacturing all kinds of high voltage power transmission, transformation and distribution equipments.
