45 Tajik students stuck in India are expected to be carried to Dushanbe by a special flight today afternoon.

45 Tajik nationals stuck in India due to the new coronavirus pandemic are expected to be carried to Dushanbe by a special New Delhi – Dushanbe flight today at 5:00 pm, representative of the Indian Embassy in Dushanbe told Asia-Plus in an interview.  

They are reportedly Tajik students that have studied in India in the framework of ITEC (Indian Technical & Economic Cooperation) and ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations) programs.

Tomorrow, Indian nationals will be carried from Dushanbe to New Delhi by this flight, the source said.  

Meanwhile, the fate of remaining Tajik nationals stuck in India due to the COVID-19 pandemic remains unknown.   

On April 19, Tajik nationals stuck in India wrote a letter to Asia-Plus, noting that more than 90 Tajik nationals have been stuck in India due to the new coronavirus pandemic.  Among them are elderly people, patients with diabetes and hypertension, cancer patients, students and children.  

On May 7, Tajikistan’s privately owned air company Somon Air delivered a large consignment of medicines from New Delhi to Dushanbe.
