81 new cases of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) were officially reported in Tajikistan on Friday, bringing a total number of the officially confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country to 4,370 as of June 5, 2020.

90 COVID-19 patients reportedly recovered on Friday.  As of the evening of June 5, 2,491 COVID-19 patients have recovered as of June 5, 2020.

Recall, the Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population, Jaloliddin Abdullozoda, said in an interview with SSSR newspaper on May 29 that Tajikistan passed its peak of coronavirus infections, when the country recorded the highest number of daily confirmed COVID-19 cases.

According to him, after peaking in mid-May at 211 new cases per day, the number of daily infections in Tajikistan has been decreasing and the number of recovering patients has been increasing with every passing day.

Based on official data about the reduction in the rate of COVID-19 in the country, many people in Tajikistan have started to ignore the threat: they do not observe the social distancing rules and go out in public without face masks.

Although quarantine has not been officially declared in Tajikistan, the Republican Commission for Preventing Further Spread of COVID-19 in Tajikistan has decided that face masks are mandatory for people in Tajikistan who go out in public during the coronavirus pandemic.

Prime Minister Qohir Rasoulzoda proposes to impose punishment for going out in public without a face mask and violating social distancing rules.

The Republican Commission for Prevention of the Further Spread of Coronavirus calls on residents of the regions to arrive in Dushanbe only in case of extreme necessity.
