After a short illness this morning, Doctor of Philology, Professor, Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, famous linguist Mukarrama Kasymova passed away at home. She was 87 years old.

She will be buried today in one of the capital's cemeteries.

Mukarrama Kasymova was born on January 16, 1933 in Kanibadam. Her life was connected with the national university: after graduating from it, she remained there to teach. In 1956-1986 she was there a teacher, assistant professor, professor. In 1966-1968 and 1974-1977 she was the dean of the faculty of Tajik philology of the university. In 1986-1995 he was the head of the Tajik language department and in 1995-2003 he was the head of the department of language history and typology of the university.

Mukarrama Kasymova since 1982 was first scientific secretary, and then the chairman of the Council for the defense of candidate and doctoral dissertations of the National University. Under her leadership, 40 people defended their doctoral and candidate. She was also the founder of the University's Language Study Center, which mainly trained foreign students and studied Tajik, Russian and Arabic.
